ANGEL 1 - ADAM
The "Giant of Light" and the very first of all the angels that attacked humanity,
also known as the angel of the red earth. In the mythology of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic
religions, Adam is the very first human being, created by God in his own image. According
to Jewish legend, Adam had a demon-wife named Lilith, before Eve was created out of Adam.
Not only the angel resposible for seccond impact (with humanities help), Adam is the basis
for all the Evangelion units, which were cloned from this angel (note the many similarities
between him and the evangelion, such as the shoulder plates and humanoid shape). Adam first
appears in episode 8 Asuka strikes!.

It is not really known for sure where adam's beginnings are, its never stated in the series.
In fact very little at all is said about this angel, which leaves one assume alot about this
angel. Being the first human created, it would stand to reason that this angel has always existed,
although in what state, no one will ever know. It was however that in 2000 AD, in Antarctica, humanity
(the Katsuragi expedition), intentionally "awakened" adam. Despite thier best efforts to contain and
analyse him, he quickly broke through the lower barriers, escaping to the surface. He the began openly
attacking the helpless personell, destroying the entire facility that had been established there.
Just what happened after this is not really known, apart form a few absract facts. The last resort of
action against the angel, was to capture it, and revert it to its embryo state. Just how this was done was
never mentioned. However, after Dr Katsuragi taking his daughter to safety (Misato Katsuragi being the
only survivor of the expedition) seccond impact began. The angel grew four enormous wings, then it
expelled massive amounts of energy, vaporising almost the entire continent. After this, he was kept in
his embryo state in NERV Germany, being used to build the evangelion. That was until 2015, when the
embryo was brought to NERV Japan (episode 8 Asuka strikes!), and it was safe guarded by Gendou Ikari
(implanted in his right hand) from any possible Angel contact.
