ANGEL 11 - IREUL
The eleventh angel to face humanity, and the seventh angel to attack Tokyo 3, also known
as the patron angel of fear. Ireul (also Irel and Yrouel) means "Guardian of the city",
and in the scripture, his role is to safe guard humaity from all kinds of natural disasters,
especially earthquakes. It may also be interesting to note that his name is found inscribed
on many amulets worn by women during pregnancy. Acutally, this angel in scripture, is much like how
it was portrayed in the series. This angel is rather ambiguous, it is said that he is there, and does
what intends to do, however just as to what he is or his intent, no one really knows, and it is never
approached. Iruel first appears in episode 13 Angel invasion.

It would be quite impossible to know very much about the beginnings of this angel, the very nature of the
angel would make such information only obtainable by god himself. This angel is in fact, more accurately
a collection of many smaller parts, much like angel 7 Israfel, although on a much larger number, and
microscopic scale. This angel is arguable the most unique angel of all those appearing in the series,
it is the single angel, that the evangelion are completely ineffectual at defeating, more over almost
everyone at NERV, the pilots, the personell, even Gendou IKari himself, is completely helpless to stop.
The way in which this angel intended to defeat NERV was to force its MAGI to self distruct, by forceable
hacking into it, once it fused with NERV's computer systems. In order to do this, it entered the cooling
systems into the sync evaluation chamber, infecting the fake evangelion in this system.
The angel, is in essence a biological self aware, incredibly adaptive, super computer (appropriate for the
angel of fear to be very freightning in its speed and tactics) . Once fused with NERV's own systems, it
began hacking deeper and deeper into its system. Wall after wall of lockout programming, that would have
taken more than a global human effort (apparent in the end of evangelion movie) to break into.
It rewired everything as it went at lightning speed, building itself into the computer, breaking into
all three of the MAGI. As Maya Ibuki, Aoba Shigeru and Hyouga Makoto (with Ritsuko's instruction)
tried their best effort to slow the angel, only managing to slow it down with the total infection of Melchior,
partial infection of Balthasar, and the pending infection of Casper. The slowing down gave Ritsuko enough time
to devise a plan to defeat the angel, which was to provide it an evolutionary end, which once reached would
destroy the angel out of limitation. She immediately began implementation into Casper, accessing the
brain case of Caper (with an circular saw) and reprogramming it directly. As the total infection of Casper
drew very close, Ritsuko managed to implement, execute the programming and defeat the angel with
literally a seccond to spare.
