ANGEL 5 - RAMIEL
The fifth angel to face humanity, and the third angel to attack Tokyo 3, also known as
the patron angel of thunder and lightning. The angel Ramiel (also Ramael and Remiel) was the chief of
thunder, and in the scripture is the angel that announces the impending arrival of the
Messiah (Jesus). It is unclear whether this angel is actually a true angel at all. The angel
is also described in the scripture (the first book of Enoch) as being a both a good and a bad
angel, or more plainly an angel and a deamon, none the less the angel is still the first true challenge
for NERV. Ramiel first appears in episode 5 Rei, beyond her heart.

Apparently just appearing over lake Ashino (moving over Tokyo 3), this angel was drastically
different right from the start. Almost everything about this angel was unlike both angels that
had come before it. The nature of this angel, since its design is obviously not for hand to hand
combat, was to keep everything away from it. It did this with its extremely powerful AT field that
makes up the majority of its structure, it also has a powerful energy beam, a weapon much like an
extremely powerful lazer weapon (appropriate weapon, it being the angel of thunder) . It used this
to target and destroy anything that came within a certain raidius. All the time, it drilled into the
geo-front, penetrating barrier after barrier.
Initially the first attempt to defeat the angel at close quaters failed. The angel quickly
fired upon the evangelion, even before ti surfaced, scoring a direct hit, and although both Shinji
and his eva managed to escape, both suffered some damage. Another plan of action was decided upon,
in which both evangelion units 00 and 01 would attempt to destroy the angel, using a
prototype particle projection cannon (on loan from the JSSDF), one evangelion acting as the sniper,
the other shielding the other evanlgeion, using the underbelly from a new space craft.
For the success of this mission, it was expected the Rei Ayanami in unit 00 that would be sniper,
however she took teh position as the shield, while Shinji took the position as sniper. The entire
rejion in Japan was shut down, the power needed to power the sniper gun, which had never been fired
at this power level before (in fact it was questionable whether it could survive it) . Unfortunately,
the first shot failed ot score a hit on teh target, and the angel began firing on their position. The
seccond shot managed to destroy the angel, however both the shield and evnagelion unit 00 suffered
heavy heat damage (even the entry plug partially melted the hand of unit 01 as it held it) .
