AOBA SHIGERU
The man in charge of communacations, Aoba is Lieutennant in the Central Militray
Command department at NERV. He is not as quiet as Maya and Hyouga, enjoying a little light
conversation, and a social occasion, and sometimes even brings his guitar to work. None the less
he is still focused on his work. He can usually be found at his station on the Command floor,
in front of Misato, Ritsuko, Gendou and Fuyutsuki. He and his work mates Hyouga Makoto and Maya
Ibuki do the bulk of the techinical work that runs NERV's operations. Although he has Ritsuko, Aoba
and Maya are his friends, he most probably spends the bulk of his spare time with other people.

Usually in sitting in front of his station performing his duties, Aoba seems to
be an easy going guy. Although his duties are as weighty as Maya's and Hyouga's,
he seems to take a less serious approach to it, not that he is reckless with it
(quite the opposite actually). His responsibilities include the smooth function
of all communications, and all general analysis of collected data, he seems to be
generally in charge of the effective co-ordinnation of Maya, Hyouga and his own
efforts. Being born on May 5th with type A blood, he also acts as the effective superior
amoungst the three, taking charge when required, and also having a quite a few conversations
with Maya and Hyouga on topics like command decisions and likey effects of these decisions.
Throught the series, Aoba plays a background role, always being near the point of
action and in the room where the decisions are made. With Takehito Koyasu as his seiyuu,
he first appears in episode 1 Angel Attack! His working life is almost
entirely spent at her station, performing his many duties. He is tested when
Angel 11 Iruel, begins as a computer virus, and begins to hack the Magi to trigger a
self destruction to occur, although it is ultimately left up to Ritsuko to defeat.
His character is never really approached, never having to do anything out of the ordinary,
in the series at least. The movies however, he is tested again, defending of an computer
attack from the USA, China and German branches of NERV. He takes effective command of the
command floor when Aoba and Hyouga, and a shaking Maya, battle the invading force from SEELE,
that try to overrun the Command floor, succedding to prevent its capture.
