DR. KATSURAGI
A character rarly shown in the series, Dr. Katsuragi, father of Misato Katsuragi (daughter),
is a character apparently alot like Kaji (although this is Misato's judgement).
He is the scientist, chosen by SEELE, to lead the expediditon to Antarctica. In his
short apprearance, and through characters talking with with Misato, he seemed to
have been a typical work dedicated father. Although he seemed to often neglect Misato,
in order to work, he seems to care alot for her. He apparently acted alot like Kaji,
which would have made him very sure of himself, and quite a womaniser,
although Misato does mention that he also made his mother cry alot,
the reason she hated him so much.

His entire life is a Mystery, apart from the little events that is known
from the series, nothing much is known about what he did. Most probably
a scientist of some sort, he was sent to Antarctica, in relation to
Adam and the Lnace of Longinus. This may have something to do with the
Geo Front that was discovered in Antartica (the one in Japan hadn't been
found yet). apparntely something went wrong, Adam developed at a phenominal
rate, escaping from his isolation, and breaking out of the underground
facility that had been built there. He rose to the surface as a what was
described as a Giant of Light, and began attacking the facility, eventually
destroying the entire continent, causing the seccond impact. Dr. Katsuragi,
blinded by snow, and bleeding everywhere, carried his uncontious daughter to
a pod, she became the only survivor.
His role in the series, is not a very big one. He first appears in episode
12 The value of a miracle is... His major relevance is to
Misato, and how he and the seccond impact affected her late childhood.
Misato, previous to the seccond impact, hated her father for quite a few
reasons. However, he carried her through the blinding snow, he sacrificed himself
to save her. Then she saw, what no one else ever saw, and survived to tell about it.
Misato never really got over this, she seems to have a hard time accepting,
that in the end, her father really did love her.
