HYOUGA MAKOTO
The man in charge of intellegence, Hyouga Lieutennant in the
Militray Oprations department at NERV.His mostly quiet and work dedicated nature, much like Maya, he
seems to be a very organised, and knows his place and position well. He can
usually be found at his station on the Command floor, in front of Misato, Ritsuko,
Gendou and Fuyutsuki. He and his work mates Aoba Shigeru and Maya Ibuki do the
bulk of the techinical work that runs NERV's operations. Although he has Ritsuko,
Aoba and Maya as friends, and even thou he does socialise, he seems to prefer to
be perfoming his duties, although he does read manga in his spare time.

Always quiet, even to Aoba and Maya, he seems to want to keep to himself,
only really talking when there is an attack on NERV. The reson for this
is most probably that his superiors are stood and seated right behind him,
watching his every move. Being born on February 13th, with type B blood, his
responsibilities include the collection of
intelligence data, but more importantly a aide-de-camp to Misato, analysing
the combat situation, and working out the more finer points of combat operations,
to complete the command decisions of Misato. His tasks means that even though he
is not directly responsible for the outcome, it is his responsibilites that might
seriously effect the outcome of a battle sequence. Hence he takes his duties
very seriously.
Throught the series, Hyouga plays a background role, always being near the point of
action and in the room where the decisions are made. With Hiro Yuki as his seiyuu, he
first appears in episode 1 Angel Attack! His working life is almost
entirely spent at her station, performing his many duties. He is tested when
Angel 13 Bardiel, begins as a computer virus, and begins to hack the Magi to trigger a
self destruction to occour, although it is ultimatly left up to Ritsuko to defeat.
His character is never really approached, never having to do anything out of the ordinary,
in the series at least. The movies however, he is tested again, defending of an computer
attack from the USA, China and German branches of NERV. Aoba and Hyouga, and a shaking Maya,
then battle the invading force from SEELE, that try to overrun the Command floor, succeesing
to prevent its capture.
