MANA KIRISHIMA
The probably the sweetest character in the series, Mana Kirishima is a wonderfully
unusual light and happy personality. She is the girlfriend of Shinji Ikari and
technically not a character from the evangelion series, she is a pilot assigned to
the Jet Alone Project. Seemingly an totally innocent girl, upon her arrival in
Neo Tokyo 3, quickly takes a keen interest in the quiet and mysterious Shinji. She
immediately comes across as the object of anyones affection, a warm, loving and caring
personality would make any guys heart melt for her. Living on her own, but almost always
with Shinji during the game, she takes on the role of Shinji's girlfriend. She quickly makes
an acquaintance with everyone that Shinji knows, usually meeting them when Shinji runs into
them.

Being 14 years old, her arrival in Neo Tokyo 3, and into Shinji's class, was quite a stroke of luck for
Shinji, so much in fact, that the slightly jealous Asuka immediatly suspects something.
Especially since there was a hail fire that struck Neo tokyo 3 on a previous night, but
there was no call to action for the evangelion pilots. It becomes known, that she is
one of three pilots, for the Jet Alone Project. She works for the JSSDF, on their project
to build a mechanical version of the evangelion, one of which, Misato stopped its nuclear
core from Melting, as the prototype unit malfunctioned in episode 7 The human creation.
Her role was to learn about the pilots, however it seems that her heart is not with her
job as a spy.
The events in the game, take the form of a trajic romance. Were it not for her
position as a pilot for the Jet Alone Project, her romance with Shinji might
have worked out. With Megumi Hayashibara as her seiyuu, she first appears in the
RPG Girlfriend of Steel. Her job as a spy seems to mean very little to her as her realtionship
with Shinji is a real love for one another, not just a physical attraction. She loves
Shinji despite her orders and the situations that comes between them. In the end,
her fellow pilot, sacrifices himself to save her and she is forced from Shinji,
even though both would give anything for it to be different. Her parting cry to
Shinji was "matte iru yo" - "I will wait for you".
