MAYA IBUKI
The fastitious one in the evangelion series, Maya she is Seccond
Lieutennant in the Technology department at NERV. Her nature seems to be a
little innocent, easily freightened and disturbed. She seems to be a very organised,
that knows her place and position well. She can usually be found at her station on the
Command floor, in front of Misato, Ritsuko, Gendou and Fuyutsuki. She and her
work mates Aoba Shigeru and Hyouga Makoto do the bulk of the techinical work
that runs NERV's operations. Although she has Ritsuko, Aoba and Hyouga as friends,
and even thou she does socialise, she seem to prefer to be working, than be
doing other things.

Being 24 years old, her quiet and tendency to be always working could be for a few reasons.
She holds Ritsuko, her superior, with very high esteem. Being born on July 11th, with type A blood,
she seems to aspire to become like Ritsuko, trying to please her in everything that she does.
Her duites include monitoring the evangleion pilot's syncronisation data, infact
almost all information in regard to the evangelion, its gathering and analysis,
is her responsibility. She is also the seccond in line, for maintenance of the
Magi super computers, behind Ritsuko. Her access to the data base means that she
knows, technically, alot more than most, although she seems to be required to
handle this as classified information, and never discusses it.
Throught the series, Maya plays a background role, always being near the point of
action and in the room where the decisions are made. With Miki Nagasawa as her seiyuu,
she first appearing in episode 1 Angel Attack!. Her working life is almost
entirely spent at her station, performing her many duties. She is tested when
Angel 13 Bardiel, begins as a computer virus, and begins to hack the Magi to trigger a
self destruction to occour, although it is ultimatly left up to Ritsuko to defeat.
Her character is never really approached, never having to do anything out of the ordinary,
in the series at least. The movies however, she is tested again, defending of an computer
attack from the USA, China and German branches of NERV. Aoba and Hyouga, and a shaking Maya,
then battle the invading force from SEELE, that try to overrun the Command floor, succeesing
to prevent its capture.
