IS NEON GENESIS EVANGELION REALLY FORETOLD IN THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS?
Just a little thought in everyones mind, that whether the events in the series of Neon
Genesis Evangelion are really based on a factual document from the dead sea scrolls.
These were found by wanderng shepards in a cave near the dead sea in 1947. They
are not all accounted for and are continuing to be found untill the present day.
The scrolls are a collection of writings by a jewish sect called the Essenes, they
include writings from the Old Testament, found in all standard Bibles and its acryophaea
found in catholic and jewish texts. It is literally a mish mash of foretelling prophecy,
philosophical writings, paraphrasing from the bible and a number of obscure references to
other writings only recognised acedemically.
Its true relation to Evangelion has never been cleared up, as no such scroll has been found
pertaining the events in Evangelion, or at least found and releaced publicly. Its seemes
to be refrenced by SEELE to the existance of "secret dead sea scrolls", which contain the
the test of humanity, seccond impact, the prophecy of the end of days, the coming of the
angels, and the creation of the evangelion. One could imagine words such as "behold... the
land of ice to the south was clensed by the angel of divine light, and half of [everything]
was taken, punish[men]t for man challenging the power of the almighty. and behold... the
[seventeen] angel(s) of heaven came alone, to test the [will] of man, facing the baron(s) of
hell, hence beginning the [seventeen] trial(s) of humanity". Note this is just an example of
what the scrolls may say if it actually did exist, which to date does not. It seems that
Evangelion was based on an imagined storyline just like every other anime, and not based on
an actual prophecy.
