PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS - ORAL STAGE (basic)
We also have the metaphor that alludes to the oral stage (first phase
of the human development described by Freud, from age 0 to 18 months).
In this stage there exists an indifferent union between the child's
conscious and the mother when she is breastfeeding the child. This
union exists because the child doesn't have its own ego. This is present
in the mechanism of the entry plug, where the pilots of the Evas - the
pilots without souls or ego - can only manage their Evas in the presence
of the soul of someone who has a very close relationship with them (the
Mother). Here we have the same base of the oral stage, that of the mother
united with her child (synchronization), and the higher this state is,
the better the Evangelion's performance will be. Just like when Shinji
fights with Zeruel and reaches a synchro-rate of 400%, and is then absorbed
into the entry plug and fuses with his mother's essence. If you don't
