SEELE, the organisation that lurks in the shadows, a body that exsists for a purpose
known only to those who could be minipulated and utilized to serve its purpose unknown.
The true intentions of SEELE are never clear, and can not be guessed or divulged easily
by any means. Theirs is a way of deceipt, cover-up, half truths, minipulation and
premedidation, everything that the true perfect shadowy organisation is made up of.
It is a body or crusty old powerful individuals and eccentric extremists set upon
changing the the world to suit its own agenda. It is not known at all, just how old
SEELE is, or the conditions under which it was formed, none the less one could easily
fathom that the members of this organisation are powerful people in powerful places,
and have been the same since even before SEELE existed, making it a great deal older then
the 15 year time span the evanglion took place in.
Indeed it was SEELE whom funded the Katsuragi expedition to antractica in 1999 to set
up a research base to study various sensitive material. It is because of this that the
research facility suffered enormous failirues, accidentally "awaking" adam, lilith and
the other angels from their ancient slumber. The ensuing indient involving the
"angel of light" or adam, cost the loss of the continent and all present on it except for
the daughter of Dr. Katsuragi whom was carried the safety of an escape pod by her dying
father. Seccond impact then occoured trajically inundating the world, killing half of
every living species, and half of humanity in the violence of nature and wars that followed.
SEELE was then again responsible for covering up the true reason for the seccond impact,
claiming it was a meteor impact that had caused such a catasprophy. SEELE again formed a
subsidiary industry named Gehrin (later NERV) to defeat the angels in the trials that
would follow, minipulating the United Nations to grant them unilateral power over the local
governments.
NERV completed its task as expected, however the alliance between Gendou Ikari and the
board of SEELE had been on a short tether which broke after the last angel was defeated.
NERV knew the agenda of SEELE wanted to change the world in human instrumentality,
however NERV was formed to defend humanity against the angels and prevent this change.
SEELE then attacked NERV, trying to achieve its goal and probably would have, except that
the only thing SEELE didnt not account for, was that it badly underestimated the
powerful will of a young and troubled 14 year old evangelion pilot.
